Well you probably all did expect a friendship post, but I won't be writing this post this week. I was thinking about writing about my vote selling via smartsteem during my absence, but then again I have to fire up excel to do the calculations but I am fed up a little bit with Excel due to the World Cup registrations :)
So, at my ride home from work I was thinking about the things that gives me energy on the Steem blockchain and maybe I will add also some things I dislike! Make a little bit influenced by the 30 days writing challenge from
So here we go:
What does gives me energy here in the Steem Ecosystem?
Interaction
Well I do like to interact. I do this via writing my post, where I do offer others a chance to interact with me or the other commenters, of via writing genuine comments on posts that did interest me!
Interaction is the fuel of the steem eco system! Forget the money part for a moment! Imagine a steem blockchain without the rewards. Still it would be a great place to be. For me this is the combination of Reddit, blogs, facebook and even Twitter!
I do write on average 250 comments per week! Yep, I know I am crazy and none of these comments are "great post", "interesting" ( :)) and so on. Each are real genuine comments on the post, where I do agree or disagree, where I could have a different point of view than the other or just not!
I could write more comments, but sometimes it feels like spamming the author. Take for instance and
who do write multiple posts per day. Most of them are intriguing to me, but when I would wrote a comment on all of the them, they could get the idea that I am just there for the money, which I am not.
Taskmaster assured me, that he doesn't see it this way and that he appreciates all genuine comments!
And he is right because a real genuine comment, could be a gift! It is really dark here in the beginning!
Connecting people!
Well most of you know that I am all over the blockchain. So sometimes I do spot posts, where I don't have a connection with but I would know for sure that some of the people I know here would have. So, in that case I will try to connect the people, it is up to them what they do with it or not!
Just like I did receive an interesting comment from on my portfolio post! While I did have an opinion on the matter, I did knew somebody else which could give a much better and more funded answer than I could give. So, I asked
for some help! Which he did. It was great to see interaction taking place at my post, without that I need to get involved! Both thanks for this!
Communities!
All my effort I put in the community gives me energy. And believe me it is a lot of effort I do put in, for sure now with the World Cup Contest! Mainly I am trying to get us noticed, which is hard enough. For sure, when you have to combine sports betting and a bot :).
People did unfollow me because of me sports betting related post, which I can understand and respect. People should follow me voluntarily! I will never ask for a follow back, while I would appreciate it! I did ask one why he did unfollow me and I did get a respectful and decent answer! I do respect your point of view and action!
But back to the community. What is really great about communities, besides that we share some common interest and that everybody is friendly and helpful, is that everybody does has extra value in it! Each one of the community members bring a special kind of expertise to a community, from supporters to educators, from sponsors to organizers and so on. This is valid for all communities!
But there are also pitfalls with communities. It is good to see that more communities are formed on the Steem blockchain! But we have to make sure not to isolate us within such a community. While I do feel at home in the steem betting community, I still want to discover new people and things. I do want to read and comment on articles from psychology towards what works on the Steem ecosystem!
Make sure that the community doesn't become an upvote friend circle jerk! Is it normal than most of your voting will be spend on the community and there is for sure nothing wrong with that, that even one of the reasons they do exist, but make sure to explore the blockchain and also keep some dry powder at hand for people you didn't know and so on, I do hope you get the picture!
Tips and advice
I do like that the steem blockchain is full of tips and advice! Ranging from becoming a millionair towards what to do with the garden. I could mention lots of people and articles in here but that list would become endless! I could dare you to come up with a topic or niche, where there don't exist any tips on, but knowing most of you, you will comment dozen of these, so I won't :)
Getting connected with people
Well this is not directly related with the steem blockchain, because more is needed than only Steem. While I did enter the steem ecosystem and lots of people were mentioning discord, I did not see the added value! Until I did install discord!
Chatting with people on discord brings a complete new dimension. I did learn things about people () which I would never have known without discord! People are really opening up there! At least if both sides are willing to! I could also mention
,
,
or
here.
All are always helpful!
Now the dislikes!
I will try to keep it short!
Spam comments
I really hate it when I do receive these or when I do see these at posts from other authors!
If you don't have read the article than don't comment!
If you did not have read the requirement of a contest, than don't enter. This for sure is really frustrating. I can understand that people do make a mistake but this is real time consuming for the organizor!
Reputation
It don't mind the reputation on itself but how we humans do see it.
If we see a post of of rep above 60 we are more likely to comment than if the same post would be written by a starting Steemian with a rep of 25! We just hope that the success will drop down on us.
Also lots of people think that a rep 25 will not have lots of steem power (while he could have converted lots of assets into steem) or do think that a rep 60 is rich in steem terms! Both are not always true!
I do my utmost best and try to ignore the reputation, the only rep I do try to avoid are the ones below 20.
Running out of voting power
This happens to me all the time! Probably because I do act like a whale but my Steem Power still reminds me that I am just plankton in the Steem Ocean!
It is addictive!
The title says it all!
If you are still reading here! Thanks for keeping focus! I did good for myself to write this down!
So, I guess that, while I had some doubts if I did see a future for myself on the steem blockchain some time ago, I can conclude that I am here to stay!
What are your feelings about the steem ecosystem?
Sorry I have left out some names, this was not intentionally :(
Keep the faith,
Peter
