Taking risks can be very dangerous but not taking risks can be more destructive.
Progress always involves risk; you can't steal second base and keep your foot on first. - Frederick Wilcox
Success never comes easy, and successful people are always willing to take chances and risks. There are situations when you are terrified of the next line of action, days when you are left with either to push the button or allow it pass by. In those time, what do you do?
Successful people are risk takers, although there are cases when they were terrified, really scared of what the next result would be, they knew if they didn't act that moment, there might not be another.
Success and failure are equal chances but people who do not like to take risks, tend to see more of the negative side compared to the positive side.
There is no being safe
I have heard people saying "it is better I sit on the fence rather than take this risk". I always tell people that nothing is safe, everything one does is taking a risk, the only reason why some things look less risky is that we believe in their outcome and productivity. When a carpenter makes a chair and test it for the first time with confidence and the chair doesn't break he would be able to sit confidently on it, but if he tries to sit on it for the first and it gets broken, he loses his confidence and then he becomes more cautious when trying to sit next time.
Everything is based on taking risks but not taking risks because of fear is riskier.
People find it hard to take steps further because they believe they might fail, but do not forget that you do not know what you are capable of until you give it a try.
Fear is a very big cloud that covers the eyes from seeing the opportunities, it only opens the eyes to see the detrimental part.
On very hindrance to success is fear and fear makes you miss profitable risks. In other to achieve great things in life, one needs to be selfless and fearless.
On this, I will end with this quote from Paul Hogan
The secret to my success is that I bit off more than I could chew and chewed as fast as I could.
