Zina Haspal, the first woman director of the United States Central Intelligence (CIA), received the country's Senate approval. Senate members have confirmed the nominated President of the US President Donald Trump for 54-45 votes on Thursday. Although his involvement in the interrogation program in the Twin Towers attack in New York later gave rise to controversy.

61-year-old Haspple spent a large part of his career in three decades as an under cover agent. After the 9/11 attacks, he was given the responsibility of a prisoner in the CIA in Thailand in 2002. There is a complaint of torture by using controversial methods such as waterboarding (water clamping, so that the prisoners are feeling drowning) in the prison camp.
Along with the Democrats in the opposition, some Republican Party tridents have also been criticizing the role of Haspal.
