One of the main obstacles for Steem and for nearly every crypto project out there is marketing. Marketing encapsulates a wide array of ideas, challenges and opportunities.
For one, marketing means getting the message out to the world. It means showing the world why your blockchain is valuable and what can be done on it. Questions should be efficiently answered and organized in a way that the average person can both understand and actually find their answer.
- Why is your blockchain important?
- What can an average user gain from integrating your blockchain into their life?
- What do entrepreneurs have to gain from building a business on your blockchain?
- How can an average user get started on your blockchain, especially if they have limited technical knowledge?
These questions and more are being asked every day about every blockchain out there. Once you’ve immersed yourself in the blockchain world, especially in the Steem world, then you can see many of these questions clearly, but that still leaves out our average user who has yet to be onboarded and immersed.
If we cannot effectively educate, inspire and onboard new users into Steem, then we cannot effectively grow this ecosystem into what it has the potential to become — a place of boundless opportunity for everyone; entrepreneurs, developers, users, travelers, bloggers, gamers alike.
Enter State of the DApps and Steem Apps
Just a few weeks ago, Steemapps.com was announced by therealwolf (a witness on the Steem blockchain).
This website embodies a sleek and intuitive design that allows anyone to understand a little more about what the Steem blockchain is about.
Even if you have 0 experience with the Steem blockchain, going to Steemapps.com will show you that apps are being built on this thing called Steem. Not only are they being built, but they are actually being used. They are functioning apps that average Steemians are using.
From there, you can google some of these apps and dive a little deeper. The main point here is that you now have a clean touchpoint for people to see that Steem is not Steemit. Steem is not a blogging platform. Steem is a platform for… anything. Any app that can be dreamt and built can be built on Steem and leverage the tools that only Steem can provide — community, rewards pool, 3 second transfers with no fees, etc.
Taking this ideal a step further happens when integration with State of the DApps occurred. Many people deserve props for making this happen and State of the DApps has been very receptive to the Steem community when it comes to making us feel at home on their site.
Having a site called Steemapps.com is great. It’s a great way to show off our own apps. Having an external site that is outside of the Steem ecosystem listing our apps amongst the top app platforms (EOS, Ethereum..) is an incredible leap forward in the marketing of our blockchain.
As State of the DApps grows in popularity and average people begin to look at it as being a true resource to gain insight on the DApps available in the whole crypto economy, Steem will grow alongside it. Steem will continue to get more and more recognition as State of the DApps continues to get more and more recognition.
Couple this with the fact that several Steem apps are in the top 20 rankings on State of the DApps.
This kind of clean, intuitive and understandable outward marketing is exactly what Steem has been lacking for the past 3 years. I’m glad to see some amazing progress on this front with Steemapps.com and stateofthedapps.com.
This also brings my attention back towards my own blog —> khaleelkazi.com. The importance of creating as many touch points for learning about the Steem blockchain in a clean and understandable way is greater than ever.
We have amazing apps and DApps on the Steem blockchain already. These apps/DApps are constantly being improved and new ones are constantly being announced and developed. Many of our apps/DApps are already functioning and are generating revenue and onboarding users. Spreading the word and bringing in new users should be a top priority for anyone on the Steem blockchain!
