from afar it looks like a fortified military castle.

Its ancient construction by stones suggests how important it is to the local population. It was a fortified collective dwelling that was difficult to penetrate and easy to defend.
The name TIZOURGANE comes from the local Amazigh language, where the inhabitants of the Kasbah were specialists in making Millstones (AZOURG).
That building dates back to the 13th century.
Local peoples are still living inside this Kasbah, and there is also a small hotel to receive tourists who come to the place.
This castle is characterized by its preservation of all its historical and archaeological components including storage rooms and alleys also the mosque and so on.
And once accessed through the huge door that still retains its old locks, you discover the splendor of the place and travel whith your imagination through time to the 13th century, Through the decoration of the building and the shape of houses and alleys, and the quiet place.
