As a result of the promulgation of the new Organic Law of Education, the Venezuelan student body has vindicated its position before the university community, after centuries of longing. And is that now the vote of a student has the same weight in the decision of who will be the new authorities of their university or faculty before the vote of a teacher, hand in hand with the inclusion of administrative and labor personnel.
This demand, both for students and workers, should be characterized as one of the most important in recent times, because it gives us legitimate and equal participation when expressing our wills in the various electoral processes of our houses of study.
It is important to clarify that this can not be in any circumstance a mechanism for the interference of any guild (student, teacher or workers) in the internal elections of another: the student movements will be the ones who choose our student representatives, in the same way teaching groups, the same in the workers sector.
The difference is that now, every few years, we will all meet together, as equals, at the moment of supporting those whom we consider will have to take the administration and direction of our universities.
