I am just on my way out the door to work in the real world and my Boss hates lateness and can be quite an ass at times, but I will take the risk. I am self-employed by the way.
Even though I like what I do, there are a whole range of things in my work I near despise. Yes, despise. I hate paperwork, chasing clients, billing, bills and of course a massive amount of tax, at least percentage wise. Running a one person company isn't the easiest but, there are some rewards.
Money for me isn't on of them as I can likely earn more monthly working for someone else but, would I have the chance to spend as much time with my daughter as I do when I work from home? Not likely. There are also other benefits to it as even though my working hours are long, I can self-direct in some way however, in others I am tied much tighter than if I was an employee as there is no going home at the end of the day.
What I wonder is that as I read posts and comments about people's experiences at Steem from all kinds of perspectives, many don't seem to enjoy their time here but, they stay. Why? If they don't get anything out of this place it seems silly to just hang around complaining unless, that is what they actually like to do.
I am not just talking about getting money either but, if one doesn't find the social aspect suitable, why stay, if one doesn't like the content they read, why stay, if one doesn't see a future here, why stay? It seems masochistic to endure a place one doesn't like by choice.
I am onboard with this place being far from perfect but I personally believe (as you can read from my content) that there is great deal of potential here to create something worthwhile. I oo find content I like and I do find people I enjoy engaging with so, why do so many struggle? Maybe I am blind to something and they have a clear vision of the future that rationalizes their actions.
Anyway, I am off to work (I still need to put on pants) but was wondering if you have thought about why you are here. Feel free to comment and I will get to them later.
