It is no secret that Steem has an issue getting people signed up. We only need to read 
Of course, the number of people approved means little if they who get accounts do not participate. Steem needs active users who are ready to help make this place grow.
Personally, I always felt the applications were a great place to help with this. Word-of-mouth is the best marketing and people who know others who use an application are more than likely to get active themselves upon approval.

One thing I will interject here, I think it is a great idea for those who are new to use Actifit. Along with being designed to promote health, the application pays in AFIT for levels of activity over 5,000 steps (this is daily). On top of that, the main account does upvote posts made by the users who achieve that level. Under this program, I surmise that one using the application will be able to earn more than the 10 SP delegated in the 3 months. This means that, once the delegation is removed, the individual can keep participating.
While 100 users is nothing to write home about, when we look at the number of daily users of most applications, a jump of 100 is significant.

Growth is something that we all know is important. Having hundreds of thousands of accounts is of little value if those people are not active. True growth is only going to happen by having people who get involved and remain committed.
A project like this can be a good starting point. Hopefully we see a few dozen more start just like it.
