Within the forms of breathing from Eastern philosophy, abdominal breathing also known as low, deep or diaphragmatic breathing is a good choice among breathing methods since it allows oxygen to fill a larger part of the lungs compared to others methods
Abdominal breathing is a type of appropriate and healthy breathing that can be applied in certain moments of our life to obtain physical, mental, psychic and spiritual well-being.
In general terms we will tell you that this type of breathing comes from the Oriental philosophy and that is to concentrate on our abdomen and feel the breath there, for which we put our hands on the stomach to feel how it inflates (inspiration) and how it contracts (Expiration) .So this breathing is similar to that performed by babies, that is, the abdomen expands when inhaling, and contracts when exhaling.
This abdominal breathing is used for relaxation purposes, it is recommended for people with high stress, it also relaxes the cardiac system, the stomach itself, digestion and lowers blood pressure.
To obtain benefits from this type of breathing it is advisable to practice until our body has become accustomed to the exercises referred to that practice. This type of breathing allows you to relax your body and mind. Accelerates venous circulation, produces a continuous massage in the abdominal organs and gives natural breathing a level of relaxation and proper rhythm.
In abdominal breathing we obviously focus on the abdomen.
Inspiration. The diaphragm goes down when air enters the lungs. The stomach is inflated.
Expiration. The diaphragm rises when the air leaves the lungs. The stomach contracts.
