“I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However, I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is just an employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.”

This post is inspired by a friend who is not greedy, by a friend who is not complete. I believe that a little tiny bit of greed is good. Actually, greed is a form of energy. It motivates and propels people to do stuff. Greed may not be the best source of motivation, the best source is love and purpose but greed is undeniably a potent fuel.

Someone said that the cure for laziness is greed. There was a fisherman who was sitting on his boat waiting for his customer to come and carry the basket of fish he just fished from the river. A days work well done. Although it was just 2 pm, this fellow was through for the day. A wealthy businessman saw him and asked him why he is retiring for the day so early. He said he saw no other alternative since he got just the right amount he needed for his family and his customer. The businessman said, "why don't you fish some more so that you can get more customers and sell more fish and buy a bigger boat and expand your business?" The poor fisherman said: "I got all I need now, I have no need for more".
What do you think about this fisherman? Is he lazy?
Too much greed is bad. Greed itself is bad. I believe that one needs just a tiny little drop of greed, I don't mean that one should be greedy, a tiny drop and not more than that because greed is a destructive form of energy. In any vessel/system, when the greed energy becomes greater than the love energy, the vessel/system collapses. But greed is an essential part of our existence and many will not accept this but the truth is that we all have the potential for insatiety. We will always long for something better or bigger.
Today I'm grateful that I have a tiny drop of greed and I am honest enough to admit it. I'm not greedy. I want more from life. I want to live a good and comfortable life. I am even more grateful that the love in my heart is an ocean compared to the tiny drop of greed that I have. I am grateful that I understand this and I know how to control myself.
