“I judge based on technique: focus, composition, background / foreground, and editing. Once I’ve picked out all good images I solely rely on my gut feeling, which has nothing to do whether one picture is better or not - they are all winners already. I liked the squirrels, they were captured differently than the usual squirrel photos: eating from the hand or simply on a tree. The bunny looked good. The white surrounding and dark eye makes for an interesting image. Honorable Mentions both look good, but I felt they aren’t they special. I’ve seen so many pidgeon shots like it and cats are plentiful everywhere, although they look great on the ledge overlooking distant lands.”
