The Economist Intelligence Unit released its Global Liveability Index today, and three Canadian cities were listed as among the 10 most liveable cities in the world.

Calgary (4th), Vancouver (6th) and Toronto (7th) made the list, with Calgary scoring top marks in every category except "Culture & Environment." Vancouver lost points for "Stability" and "Infrastructure," while Toronto lost points in all three of the aforementioned categories.
Vienna was named the most liveable city in the world for the first time in the survey's history. This ended Melbourne's seven-year run of most liveable city in the world. Like Canada, Australia also had three cities among the top 10 most liveable cities in the world.
Damascus was named least liveable of all the cities covered in the index.
I currently live in Kelowna, British Columbia; however, I lived in Calgary for several years and I visit the city often. Like any city, Calgary has its issues, but it's come a long way in terms of creating an inclusive environment that celebrates arts and culture.
(...but I'm guessing this survey didn't take into account the frigid -30 degree winters. It seems a lot less liveable on those cold days!)
