I am using my Instagram with over 1900 followers to post Unpaid Advertisements for Steemit and the Steem Blockchain (And EOS/Golos/Graphene blockchains made by 
Hive account@dan Larimer ) And this Instagram account ackza770 is linked to my Facebook with 1700 friends, 1000+ twitter followers and Tumblr so my Cryptocurrency and Cannabis hashtags do the trick of making it seen, the Image interests them, and the description gets them excited for crypto and I Know this is MANY peoples' FIRST time EVER hearing about Steem and MANY of the people I reach here on legacy social media DO end up making accounts and contacting me afterwords thanking me for getting them off Instagram/Facebook/twitter and onto Steem! (But as we can see, we should still USE those old platforms JUST for promoting Steem and use there own systems against them :D We use IG/FB/Twitter/Youtube/reddit to promote steem to the Bitcoin/crypto communities that exist there.
Now, as you can see, I am also using the VERY large Cannabis community on Instagram to find new inroads and beachheads for steem to spread, as this subculture of Cannabis mixes perfect with steem and the steemit.com/trending/cannabis is very active and routinely rewards its users $20 to $200 for simply posting high quality photos of their cannabis products!
