Hello, steemians! Welcome to my page!
If you've been reading my Cannabis Chronicals posts so far, then you know that I took all the big leaves off the plant that I have in the house last week. The plant was getting too vertical, so I took off the top, and I took off the big leaves to encourage the side branches to grow. This was what it looked like after I trimmed it last week.
Back under the light.
So here it is about a week later, and the plant has started filling out nicely now. The side branches are showing good growth, which makes me feel better about having removed most of the big leaves. I was a bit worried about how the plant might react, but it seems to be responding well to the "haircut"
Here it is, under the light.
The leaves that I removed from the plant are drying up nicely also. I have a good idea for what to do with those leaves once they're dry.
The plant out in the greenhouse is growing a bit slower, probably because of the cold nights and the cloudy days that we have around here this time of year. Still, it is growing. Here it is, between the tomato plants next to the heat wall. You can't really see it from the street, so it's not being grown "in view of the public". I will have to find a better place for it when it gets bigger, but for now, it's ok. It has also developed some nice side branches. This was a couple of days ago.
Another interesting thing, I took the top off this plant about a week or so ago because it was getting too tall, and I just stuck the stem from the top into the dirt next to the main plant to see what would happen. I really expected it to just die. You can see the long top stem in this picture from last week before I took it off the plant.
Strangely enough, the stem with the 2 branches on top didn't die, so a couple of days ago, I pulled it out of the pot with the plant it came from, trimmed the bottom of the stem a bit, and put it in it's own little pot. I put a saucer under the pot and put enough water in it to keep the dirt wet for several days. It will be interesting to see if this stem develops roots, or if it eventually dies.
I put the little pot on top of the heat wall so that it will stay a little warmer on the cool days and cold nights.
This stuff is all pretty new to me. I've been a gardener for many years, but cannabis is a new thing for me to grow, now that it's legal to grow where I live.
That's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!
