We all love it when cannabis has that perfect texture. It is great when you break into a bud and it feels like fresh popcorn. When it somehow manages to be moist and crumbly at the same time. You, can't always get what you want though. Sometimes buds are too loose and sometimes they are too tight. It is those tight buds that I want to talk about here because I hear consumers complain about them but I don't think dense buds are a bad thing.
The reason I bring this up is that I have seen consumers complain that their 1/8th looks too small or is too hard to break up. To me this seems odd. If it weighs what it is supposed to weigh, then why complain? I think it is more of a visual thing. In many people's minds "looks small" equals "is small." It is the same thing that happens when you give a child a choice between two glasses of juice with the same volume but different shapes. They choose the tall skinny glass over the sort fat one because it looks like more.
There are real benefits to tight buds that we shouldn't ignore. They are great for the grower who gets more weight in a nice small package. I think dense buds protect their quality better too. When the buds are that tight they don't break apart as easily which means less unappealing shake at the bottom of your bag and less of the kef has an opportunity to fall out of the interior parts of the buds. They also seem to hold onto their sticky moisture longer too.
What do you guys think? Have you ever seen someone be upset because their weed is too dense? Do you like dense weed?
