That's right, I said you should consider getting too high (every once in a while, at least). Getting too high happens to everyone who uses cannabis and a lot of people view this as a bad thing but I am willing to argue the opposite. Sure, getting too high can be uncomfortable or a little scary (especially for novice consumers) but this is just the natural response to an experience that is both unusual and intense and it is something you can get past (if you need tips on how to do this see my post on the subject). If you can move past the anxiety, you will find that high does of cannabis can be both fun and rewarding.
I speak from experience here. When I was young, I was lucky enough to be there to see people go through their first "too high" high. Some of them did great others didn't but all of them left with greater respect for and application of the drug and its mind altering potential.
The thing is, there are a lot of people who only smoke flower and never really have the capacity to reach the level of buzz that I am talking about here so you will need to do something else. Dabs can get you there but they can get pretty pricey. Edibles are probably your best bet (weed baklava sounds good right now), you can make your own and the buzz will last longer too. If you are limited by the amount of weed on hand, try making "fire crackers" (there are plenty of recipes out there), they are crude but you can also make single doses without any trouble.
Why am I recommending that you do this? I am trying to sell the idea of getting too high because the experiences can be quite rewarding. A high dose of oral cannabis can be remarkably intense (in some ways even more so than psychedelics) and dealing with that intensity (safely and in controlled environments) is good for us. It gives us a metric by which we can judge intense things in real life. It also "trains" us so that we might be better at keeping our cool when we are faced with a real emergency and need to stay collected.
Getting too high can be fun too. All the things you like about cannabis are greatly magnified at high doses. I know that stands to reason but its worth mentioning anyway. It is also fun to give up a little bit of control which we aren't usually allowed to do in our society and can be refreshing.
Getting too high is feels different. There seems to be a threshold where the typical cannabis buzz becomes something more than it usually is. At very high doses cannabis takes on a borderline psychedelic quality. I am hesitant to call the experience a "trip" but it is close and unique at the same time; it's something that is worth doing if you like exploring the stranger parts of your mind.
Lastly, high doses of cannabis are safe. This is a claim that no other drug can make. People have and continue to consume "heroic doses" of psychedelic drugs but they accept some level of risk by doing it. Most of everything else can kill you if you do something wrong or take too much. I am fine with the idea of using some other drugs but none of them allow you to explore them as deeply as cannabis without risk.
If you think you are up to it, think about breaking up an eighth or a quarter, make some edibles, eat them all, and try getting too high. Stay calm, carry on, and have a great time.
