Welcome to my Strain Review of Lemon Skunk
As the story goes for this strain DNA Genetics had brought two separate Skunk #1 phenotypes together that were both high in limonene terpene. The first originated in Las Vegas and the cut was kept alive before it was eventually brought to Amsterdam to be bred with the second lemon phenotype of Skunk #1. The results are a 60/40 sativa leaning Lemon Skunk that lives up to both the lemon and the skunk profiles that it was clearly named after.
This is another one from the Green Rhino. Originally priced at $10 per gram I was able to catch it on sale for $6 per gram plus tax and shipping.
If you have any suggestions for strains you would like me to review please leave it in the comments section. I am always looking for new strains and even new places to buy them. Once legalization for recreational cannabis comes into effect in Canada in October there will be a lot of new places that will need reviews so keep me up to date with where you're getting your cannabis from so I can check it out too.
Lemon Skunk has a THC of 15% - 22% which is average and approaching high THC values. The CBD comes in at around the 1% mark and CBN also around that 1% mark. So the CBD and CBN are both low but do show up on testing.
The appearance is a little bit leafy and under trimmed at first glance. Medium to light green in color accompanied by an abundance of smaller orange pistols and once you get past the extra leaves it has a nice covering of trichomes. Speaking of trichomes we have a nice array of trichomes from clear to milky to amber. Most of what i see through the scope is clear and milky with the odd amber trichome popping out.
The smell of container has a slightly sweet lemon floral with subtle skunk tones mixed in. Once I busted the nugs it gives off a lemon skunk scent with a black licorice or basil aroma.
Packing the vape and setting the temp to 420 Fahrenheit gives off a lemon and for some odd reason also a fresh carrot taste. This invoked the idea of making a pipe out of a carrot. You know like the when you don't have anything to smoke with so you have to turn an apple into a pipe. Now a carrot pipe would be pretty cool. That lead me to think about a really cool orange colored glass carrot pipe with a green stock on the end like carrot leaves. I'm imagining this epic glass carrot pipe. After sitting by my vape and daydreaming about this carrot pipe i realized this must be some creativity invoking cannabis. And also made me realize, wow I must be high lol...
The effects are said to be an energetic creative high that is great for treating stress and depression. From my personal experience i would agree with most of that. The creativity was the first to hit me while i was still puffing on the vape contemplating my carrot pipe idea. Not much burn out from this strain but had a little bit of drowsiness what i would equate to the amber trichomes that I spotted in the microscope.
Some info i found on the strain:
- Lemon Skunk = (Skunk #1(high limonene pheno from Las Vegas) x Skunk #1(high limonene pheno from Amsterdam))
- Sativa Dominant Strain (60% Sativa x 40% Indica)
- THC = 15% - 22%, CBD = 1%, CBN = 1%
- Taste: Lemon, Skunk, Spice
- Treats: Stress, Depression, Pain
