Some days ago I posted a cannabis plant that I did not know if it was a female. Finally it is a girl. I´m so excited!!!
Then I decided to clone this girl, but as I can only grow plants outdoors, then I decided to try a friend´s idea, that is to put the cutting to root directly on the soil. However, the cutting can die easily, because sunlight and wind desiccate it very fast.
This problem was solved by using a fancy and very difficult to obtain artifact (jejeje...): a glass or plastic soda bottle, to protect the cutting from desiccation.
In following pic is a cutting with the protection glass artifact put on, consisting of a 1 liter bottle. As the plant needs gas exchange, then a groove on the ground was done in contact with the jar top. As can be seen, this system mantains humidity around the plant, to avoid desiccation:
This is how the cutting looks after a week of rooting. It is totally alive, so it has survived the most critical time lapse:
This is another try, but this time by using a 600 mL plastic soda bottle, without the lid as air exchanger, buried as can be seen in this pic:
The result is the same: a totally healthy alive plant:
Can´t be missed a pic of the mother plant:

Of course, this rooting system can be used with other plants, that can be propagated by cuttings.
Enjoy your gardening!!!
