In Colorado, one new fitness facility is trying to set itself apart from the others by catering to the cannabis crowd.
It isn't the first of its kind either.
That gym, Power Plant Fitness, also established a venue that sought to integrate the work-out with cannabis consumption. The facility enables those interested to partake in consuming their cannabis either before or after their workouts.
Now, you can find gyms offering things like weed-assisted fitness plans, a variety of made for pre-workout or post-workout edibles, and more.
In Colorado, the owner of Break The Stigma, Janessa Lea admits that she herself suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which is a connective tissue disease and because of the chronic pain that has caused, it's fueled her passion for the business and motivation for wellness.
The gym facilities aren't selling cannabis to those who are looking to come in and take advantage of the opportunity to consume some and work-out. Those interested will have to bring their own with them. At Break the Stigma Fitness, they admit that they have given out cannabis to their customers as free samples.
There are a number of reasons why someone might want to mix the two together, such as looking to have a more enjoyable experience, better focus, assistance with repair after the workout or to reduce soreness etc, and other reasons.
As more states in the US move in the direction of embracing cannabis, we can expect to see these sorts of facilities popping up if more people find that the combination works for them.
