Cannabis remains criminalized in the UK at the moment, even though it's regarded as the most widely-used illicit drug in the region. For anyone who gets caught with cannabis in the UK, they could face several years in prison, along with a hefty fine.
But one man has been busy making cannabis oil in his own underground operation and then giving it out for free to people who are terminally ill.
What has inspired his efforts?
He has been working on and refining his oil making process for months and has been networking with illegal home growers in the UK who have been willing to sell him the product that he needs to make his oil.
Right now, he admits that with 30 ounces of cannabis he's been able to produce roughly 60 grams of oil with it. Once he has the oil, he then pours the product into plastic syringes.
He is trying to heal as many people as possible
Cannabis is still criminalized in the UK, despite the government previously admitting that it does have medicinal effects. Their criminalization of cannabis means that there are millions of people who aren't able to access this plant to see if it could boost their own quality of life as it has already done for so many others. Cannabis advocates in the UK continue to push for legalization and many think that it could just be around the corner for them.
Until legalization is implemented however, anyone caught peacefully engaging with cannabis by either growing, selling, or possessing it etc, could face multiple years behind bars and a fine. Mr. Bains admits that he is aware of the risks involved with what he is doing and he says that he is prepared to accept the consequences, though hopes that because of his motives that the state would hopefully be lenient with him if they do catch him eventually.
