Vegas is an internationally renowned city and has a reputation for its shopping, gambling, entertainment options, nightlife venues, dining variety, and a whole lot more.
Officials in the state have seemingly been able to handle all of that; the gambling and the partying all night etc, but they allegedly have growing concerns for the arrival of cannabis cafes to the area.
Medical cannabis dispensaries in the state have already started selling recreational cannabis to those in the area who are over the age of 21. And it's estimated that there are about 60 different dispensaries that are located in the state right now.
Vegas has joined along with 7 other states in the US that have moved to allow recreational cannabis use: Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and others.
Right now, the state has afforded people with the freedom to legally be able to purchase up to 1 ounce of marijuana, or one-eight of an ounce of edibles or concentrates.
And with Vegas already being hailed as the ultimate party town, it only seemed fitting that they'd eventually make the change to allow people there the freedom to consume cannabis if they wish to.
However...
Despite the move to make changes to allow now for recreational cannabis use, not everyone is happy about it and ready to accept it. The Governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval, recently expressed his own concern for the potential for cannabis cafes to pop up around town.
He says that there is a concern that these cannabis lounge venues will invite unwanted scrutiny from the federal level. He's allegedly insisted that he would like the attorney general to render their verdict in the matter and what the AG office thinks about the potential for cannabis cafes.
If they are successful in making the change to allow for the cafes, then Nevada could become the first state in the US that legally allows for people to consume cannabis in clubs, cafes, and lounges etc.
Officials in the state are still in the midst of trying to sort out their rules on it, and there is still a decent bit of confusion as to the interpretation of the rules and whether or not there is permission for cannabis cafes to go ahead and set up shop in the area.
These details will likely get worked out in the weeks to come and Nevada very well might be the first to bring the US down the road of embracing the cannabis cafe culture on a new level.
