I have my own definite opinions on this so called "war on drugs" which has been very profitable for some but lead to subjugation and misery of untold millions!
I will shortly be writing a much longer post more along my usual style dealing with the history, characters and repercussions on this disastrous "war" but as I am doing that I would like to hear from the Steemit community.
Twice before have I canvassed the Steemian community for their opinions on the contentious subject 9/11 and vaccinations. Both times the responses were enlightening. As usual I will be pulling the best comments for the follow up post and making some graphs.
I realise what I am about to do will prejudice some of the responses and I apologise in advance for that but I want to lay a few issues on the table which I will go into depth in my second post.
The War On Drugs
Whatever you believe about the war on drugs two things are indisputable. The war on drugs has created profits without measure for government agencies, law enforcement, the military, the media, the producers and the biggest profiteers the world wide network of smuggling bosses.
Much has been come to the public light to show that the biggest bosses of the drug business are our military but I will deal with this in the forthcoming post.
A War On Plants & Conciousnes?
In 1971 President Richard Nixon firs declared war on drugs but this was not really Nixon speaking, rather the puppet masters who were pulling his strings. Nixon was a foul man and totally deserves his own Named & Shamed post! This opened the floodgates for what is indisputably billions of dollars and massive bureaucratic empire building. More of this coming.
The biggest group of plant users to suffer under this war on drugs were the cannabis users who are by far the biggest market! The majority of these poor souls were people of colour in the US.
Fundamentally the war on drugs started as a war on plants. It is also a war on our minds and consciousness. You can abuse yourself with certain plants but not others. This is ludicrous!
Keeping Drugs Illegal Brings More Addicts & Profits
Recent studies and examples have shown that keeping drugs illegal leads to greater problems but increased profits. The profits rise up through the system and include our governments, private agencies, private prisons, the legal profession, the media and all the other corporate scum who have no respect for hum life but allow themselves to be prostituted for blackmail or bribes.
My own personal experiences around people who suffer addiction have been many and varied. They have included the wealthy and the tragically poor. This is a problem which touches all of our youth and needs to be addressed before we criminalise our youth.
Still it's normally only the poor who suffer suffer the full brutality of these laws... the rich are always dealt with more leniently!
I am so grateful that I do not have to suffer these terrible addictions and feel a lot of compassion for those who do! I have lost many friends and nearly lost many others 😢
The UN & Portugal
Although I have a lot to say about the UN and it will have an interesting Named & Shamed post of its own soon it recently published an interesting report with the WHO that called for drugs to be decriminalised. 1
Portugal took its own stance and decriminalised all drugs over 10 years ago 2. Drug abuse is estimated to be down by half.
Is The War On Drugs A Failure?
In my opinion it has been a terrible failure littered with death, prison, ruined lives and huge profits for the criminal elite of our plant who have always profited from drugs. I'm going to go into this much more in my next post but lets hear what you Steemians have to say on this!
In my research on this survey I came across a great post on this very subject on Steemit by . Go Steemit!
I applaud this because I think it's time to discuss this subject more often because it is indicative of the wider control mechanisms our communities are conned into to our detriment and the profit of the elite.
Another excellent Steemian to follow for excellent information on this subject is .
I believe we need mass movement to change this situation for the betterment of all people.
The best comments will be used and credited in my longer post!
