Since March 2017 you can legally get a receipt from a doctor for medical marijuana in Germany. Since then over 5500 people are allowed get their medicine through the pharmacies.
The problem: Through the rising number of patients enough cannabis cannot be provided. The marijuana is imported from the Netherlands and Canada and most of the strains prescribed by doctors are not available currently. The cannabis can also not be grown in Germany as the laws do not allow it as for now.
This problem is the first thing that has to be taken care of. After that, the horrendous price of up to 25€ for one gram of flower has to be taken care of as some patients still have to pay their medicine by themselves. The insurance companies review every request for cost acquisition individually and so far about 50% of them have been approved.
