So I am most definitely not new to the cannabis world. I am a regular marijuana user and an advocate for legalization. I have been regularly smoking bud for roughly 10-12 years and generally my apparatus of choice is my bong. Sometimes I enjoy rolling a nice blunt to share with friends and once in a while I'll pack a nice bowl if I'm on the run. That being said, I usually have no problem achieving the effects I desire. Then there's edibles.....
When people describe to me the high they experience after consuming edibles I can't help but to feel envy and a touch of jealousy. Edibles just don't seem to work for me at all. I would love to experience that " deep body high " that most people feel after having a nice cannabis infused treat, but it's yet to happen for me. I have sampled edibles from a variety of places; amateur homemade brownies, cannabutter and chocolate chip cookies; dispensary grade gummie bears, chocolate pops, macaroons & hard candies. None of these did the trick. I don't even feel mildly affected and it's very frustrating!
That's my frustrated face LOL!
A few months ago I decided I would do a small experiment with myself. I bought a good variety of treats from my local dispensary and headed home to see if I could achieve the 'edible affect'. I started small eating 2 10mg hard candies and then waiting about 30 minutes before deciding I was completely unaffected. So I moved on to 2 more 10mg hard candies along with a 20mg chocolate lollipop. Again....nothing. I then ate a 30mg macaroon and waited. An hour later after consuming 90mg of cannabis treats, I should have been completely melted into my recliner and in the body high zone for the remainder of the night but instead I was still stone sober. I mean, truly I don't even feel a slight sense of relaxation. You can understand my frustration.
So the conclusion I've come to is that edibles just don't work for me. Has anyone else ever experienced this or know someone who has? Could it be that my body metabolizes THC too quickly when in edible form? I'd love to hear what you think about my little "problem" and I'd love to hear your edible stories as well.
Guess I'll have to stick to the classics and simply keep smoking my herb ;)
Peace, Jill
