Pricing in Illinois
Generally speaking Illinois black market prices have been on the high end until recent years. It has become dramatically cheaper on the black market, and in general the quality has gone up. Typically however, it does not compete with the quality of the medical cannabis in Illinois, and definitely cannot match the variety. Prices for Medical Cannabis in Illinois are quite high though. The price range much reflects what the black market used to here in Illinois. 8ths ranging from $45 up to $75. You can on rare occasion, find 8ths cheaper than $45, on sale.
Midway Dispensary Weekly Specials
The weekly specials are generally the best deals they got going. I like Pharmacann, GTI, Grassroots, and Ataraxia. I avoid buying from Ingrown, IESO, and NGW, their flowers tend to be lower quality than the others. These days are not that great to me. In Colorado, cartridges go for $20 for 500 mg, here in Illinois, $51 is a sale. The edible sale prices are about the same as normal edibles prices in Colorado, which are the one thing out there that's way too high. 100 mg is not a lot of Thc, and neither is 10 pieces of candy, so to pay over $20 for that, is crazy to me. NGW has 8ths on sale for $41 but they just are not that quality to me.
Sales Emailers
They send out occasional emailers to notify us of sales. Because of the name brand, these are more expensive, $66 for a half gram cartridge.
Branding deal with Wana
Grassroots has a partnership with Wana for their edible line. I personally was not a fan of this move. I've tried Wana products in Colorado and they aren't great. It also just isn't a good brand for a branding powerhouse like Grassroots. Not only does the company own Grassroots Cannabis, they own Windy City Cannabis and Greenhouse Group, which are two of their dispensary chains. Also this deal just isn't a very good one.
Best deal per milligram
This is probably the best deal per mg. About half the price of the cartridges on sale. It's just not great for smoking or dabbing and doesn't taste great. It will definitely get you really baked though. It's also good for cooking/baking.
Sale? How?
I am not exactly sure how, or in what universe anyone would really consider this a "sale". The "standard" has always been $60 an 8th in the market of high quality cannabis. So an extra $1 should not be considered a sale by any means.
Reserve sale
They put the reserve label on it so they can charge more, then they put it on sale. It's a clever little trick they are playing there. $56 for a cartridge is still quite a bit of money.
Legalization = Price discovery
Quality is important to me, and I'll take quality over a good price any day, but there's a point when the prices are crazy, and prohibition has caused that situation to exist for far too long. Legalization can lead us to true price discovery of cannabis. What is an ounce of high quality cannabis really worth? I've paid between $100 and $500, that's a pretty high level of volatility. What is pricing by you like? What do you think an ounce of high quality cannabis is worth?
