With another grow wrapped up I have dried the buds and weighed them out. Now it is time to guess the weight of my harvest in grams. You can check the previous contests in the links below to get an idea of how this works. Basically your trying to eyeball the weight of the buds. Amazing how close some Hivers have gotten to the weight. A few times getting within a gram or two of the weight.. truly amazing.
Basically its the weight of the cannabis inside the jars, the weight of the glass jars and lids is not included so keep that in mind. These jars are half filled to help with the curing process.
Seven smaller jars and two bigger jars is the harvest. I think I will move the buds to all big jars eventually. Takes less time opening jars when I have less, but just used what I had on hand.
The last couple pictures before harvesting the plants, they had close to 60 days to form some good buds. So looking forward to trying them in a few months from now.
Wished they got a little bigger, next time I will let them veg a little longer. But since this grow tent is new to me, it was hard to say how big I could let them grow. But I will reference my grow journal next tent grow and let them grow a little taller next time.
A closer look the bottom row. Lots of buds curing now.
The buds came out great, check out the last few photos to see some close ups.
I open these jars every day to let the gases exchange. I will need to do that for the next three months and then they should be ready for consumption. Until then they will have a "grassy" taste to them, so best to wait.
A close up of some of the buds.
So what's next?: I am starting four new seedlings for my upcoming outdoor grow. I will grow them in the grow tent until the risk of frost is over for the year, which is usually late April / early May. This time I hope to have less of a risk of bud rot, as I am sticking to pure sativa strains for my outdoor grow. Hoping the airy buds that sativas tend to have will help with the high humidity issues I have growing outdoors in The South. Previously I had grown indica dominant or close to 50/50 hybrids outdoors. So this will be my first pure sativa grow coming up outdoors. Chances are I will have some huge plants, sativas tend to grow big and since they are photoperoids they will have the entire Virginia grow season to veg out. We have long summers here so it should help it a lot put on some size to them. If only I can overcome the muggy summers rotting my buds.. lol
Guess the weight in grams of my entire harvest, and leave your prediction in the comments. The Hiver that guesses the closest wins. After the payout date of this post I will announce the winner.
Since the price of Hive is lower than the previous contests, I have decided to increase the reward to 25 Hive.
