The recent changes in the South African cannabis market has come a long way in the recent years.
People are starting to realize the potential for the hemp plant and its uses in industry and for medical applications.
With the latest developments in the law concerning cannabis, (dagga as it's known in Africa) the court found that the prohibition of cannabis was unconstitutional and has allowed for the cultivation of the plant for home use.
Friday the 31st of March 2017 was a momentous day for South African cannabis users. The Western Cape high court ruled in favor of consumption of cannabis as a constitutional right. This is a huge moment in the push for legislation.
There is also another court case going on in the Pretoria high court called the trial of the plant. With the parties pushing for full legalization with the model of a controlled market in the form of registered dispensaries.
The party financing the trial is the Dagga couple and a non profit organization called fields of green for all.
In Durban there is a legal hemp project growing in the Dube trade port Agri devolopment zone done by a business called the house of hemp.
So all in all it looks like some serious changes are taking place in the climate of Africa and in the development of this amazing plant.
I hope to see more of the culture in the coming months and more uses of the plant coming forward because why hate on a plant that gives you food, clothing and shelter.
Peace!
