So it all begins when I am at the truck rental place getting a rental truck and also a dolly for my car on may 31st, 2017.
I am moving from las vegas to st.louis, I need to do that in about 5 days. Usually if I am just traveling by car alone I can make the trip in less than 2 days. But with a rental truck and car dolly with car attach the max speed preferable on the highway is about 60 mph. Also you have to slow down when moving downward the mountains as well.
So I get my rental truck and also my dolly, one of the representatives attaches my car to the dolly (which he wasn't suppose to but didn't know about this and find out until three days later).
On day one after loading the truck and departing from vegas I get to richfield, UT which is only 297 miles away but takes around over 6 hours to drive. I tell you, staying 100% alert when driving is all you want to do when traveling with a truck and dolly.
So I will fast forward to where the shocking story begins to save you time.
I finally make it to Kansas. After trudging through the mountains in Colorado, being in Kansas is a breath of fresh air except it is very windy that day. So I make it to Hays, KS pump gas and then get on the road. My next destination is 93 miles away.
So I then make it to Salina, KS 93 miles away. I get out of the rental truck and look behind and my car is not on the dolly. It must have fallen off somewhere between hays, KS and salina. This happen on June 2nd.
So after about an hour figuring out what to do I get in touch with the kansas state trouper on the phone and they identify my car and tell me it fell off on a bridge (hit both sides of it) 14 miles past Hays and that it is in a autobody shop directly in Hays. Luckily nobody got hurt, no other cars got damage and I wasn't going at a fast speed when my rental truck approached the bridge which my car fell off.
So I call the autobody shop thereafter and they tell me they just closed but can call them back the next day to find out more info on my car.
The next day in the morning of June 3rd I go to a truck rental place first (the same company who I got it from in vegas) and they inspect the dolly. They also tell me that no representative is suppose to attach your car to the dolly and that they were suppose to give me a video and manual on how to do this. I tell them I never was told any of this and that the rep took it upon his own self to attach my car. But I got to learn now that very day when they inspected the dolly what I needed to do to secure my car to the dolly properly.
So I drove all the way to Hays, KS after the dolly inspection and saw the condition of my car, it was still able to drive but lots of outer damage in various places. Luckily since I now knew how to attach a car I got it securely attach and drove all the way from Hays to st.louis which took over 10 hours of almost nonstop driving.
Once I got into st.louis for the next almost two weeks was trying to negotiate with the truck rental company to pay for my car damages and a few other expenses that occurred and also including a rental car for the time I would not have access to my car when it's being fixed. After two weeks they finally gave in and decided to pay for my damages and most of what the other things I was asking for too.
Once it was taken to the autobody shop, was told that my car would take around 14 days maybe up to 3 weeks to get fixed.
Today on July, 18 2017 after about 4 weeks in the shop finally got my car back looking pretty much brand new.
One of the reason's I will remember this event is the day my car fell off the dolly it was my sister's birthday.
Feels good to drive my car once again after a month and a half of not using it for all that time.
