History of Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA was produced between 1965 and 1968 with only 500 examples, in order to have the homologation for Group 2 racing, in two versions :
🏎️ street Stradale
🏎️ race Corsa.

The car was developped by Autodelta, the racing division of Alfa Romeo, on the basis of the road Giula GT model. The A stands for Alleggeria, Italian for lightweight thanks to the lightweight aluminum-derived material called Peraluman 25 pannels (instead of steel).

This example Corsa Autodelta prepared was one the only 15th cars of the * pre-series* built in Settimo factory in Milan (<).

This model (chassis 613015) was produced in 1965 and bought by Lucien Bianchi, Belgian racing driver and winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans. He used the car in his team to compete during 4 seasons in European Touring Car Championships.

Specification

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA is equipped with an orignal Twin Cam GTA engine with a Magnetti Marelli S119A twin-spark distributor producing 170 hp. Thanks to the weight reduction done by Autodelta (only 740 kg), the acceleration was quite exceptionnal : 0 to 100 kmh in just 8.2 seconds.

The car was completely restored in the 90's with the intention of returning it to its original 1965 specification. The car is finished in red with a white stripe, its original Team Lucien Bianchi colours.

The interior has the original Autodelta sports seats with a GTA 1600 dashboard and Hellebore wooden rim steering wheel.
