Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are an innovation so huge, that it's hard to comprehend. The magnitude of efficiency that they can offer us over conventional managerial systems is immense to say the least.
These blockchains, though revolutionary have shown issues in their long term scalability. The most recent events of the massive fees in Bitcoin, up to $30+ per transaction, coupled with the forks in mining show how it isn't a perfect world.
Humankind, however, is in constant pursuit of perfection. Cardano is an effort to start from scratch and look at all the issues of current decentralized ledger technologies. Using the scientific method and peer reviewed data, much like today's science community, IOHK hopes to accelerate the technological engineering of cryptocurrency.
Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of IOHK (the company behind Cardano) is a co-founder of Ethereum and worked alongside Vitalik Buterin. He is proving to be instrumental in the future of cryptocurrency. Expect great things from Cardano going forward.
