This RX7 is one serious hard core turbo Rotary Beast and it's owned by Ted who's a really cool guy who is the Top Gun of the elite jdm car club Regiment Zero. This was the second time that I photographed Ted's car last year, I first met him at Auto Con New york, but this time I was able to capture his car in action on the track where it truly belongs as a track day special. It looks like a touge monster from those japanese Hot Version Video's that had tuner shop's challenge each with their tuned cars on mountain roads and the on the Circuit.
A vented hood is vital to a rotary engine that will be raced because rotary's tend to generate a lot of heat. Note the mirrors on the fender, that's a retro JDM touch.
Ted picked up a nail on the track so he had to cut his track time short.
Down force via a GT Wing is needed for high speed cornering and to help keep the rear tires planted.
