Bought a new battery for the Marina yesterday as the one that came with the car was not holding a charge well and down on voltage. I opted to get the best cold cranking amps battery i could that would fit with out altering anything. As you will see in the photo below the new battery on the left is a little bit taller and still fits just fine:)
Before fitting the battery terminals i cleaned them up on the contact area with some sand paper to get a nice electrical connection with the battery. You will see in the photos here.
Old and dirty on the inside.
Cleaning.
Nice and shiny clean.
All fitted in.
The good news is it started first go not like before winding and winding slowly and then flat battery try and jump start then charge overnight and repete.
Now the engine is turning over faster then before thought i should recheck the compression pressure. I did this and got a higher PSI on the guage then the previous checks so that is great though still not as high as it should be. It may just be a bit tired this old engine.
I am making progress so i am happy about that. Thanks for your interest and following along with todays work on the Marina.
