Today from Germany with a collector car, the first roadster constructed by BMW to come back to open air driving in 1989...
The car? The BMW Z1
"Z" for Zukunft means FUTURE in German language.
Presented for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1987, BMW got a pre-order of 5000 units. The production started in 1988. It was produced only for 3 years. In sum there were 8000 cars on the market.
Z1 was in the segment of compact cars perhaps with a solid 2.5L 170HP engine, the same as in 325i series.
BMW had to suspend the production of Z1 because they couldn't meet the initial demand at the time. This model was built to open the ball of BMW's roadsters.
They came back on the market of roadsters with Z3.
Did you know?
The manufacturer BMW didn't produce any roadsters between 1950 and 1989.
Today you can get it in Germany for around 5-7 BTC.
Enjoy ;)
