This story isn’t about me, it’s about my father back in the early 1990s.
So it must have been about 1993 when my Dad owned a very rare car.
It was a very very very rare Alpina B12 5.0 based on a 1990 E32 750i in Right hand drive.
It was such a beautiful car finished off in diamond black with a cream coloured leather interior. Had loads of gadgets inside too, including a fridge in the rear armrest area, which would keep your champagne or wine nice and cool.
It is a car that I would love to get back in my life, and I used to spend so much time looking after it, for my dad, even thou I was very young.
Anyway back to the story, my Dad was driving back home from Brighton heading towards Uckfield down the A27, and as usual this Alpina got a lot of attention. Especially from boy racers.
I don’t know how, but some how he got into an unusual race. He was joined by a brand new Subaru WRX, some Bentley and a Jaguar XJS, all kind of quick in their own right, but my dad took the race to seriously and put his foot down and reached very quick speeds.
My dad was slowed down by smaller black car and my dad started flashing him out of the way. The car quickly pulled over and dad floored it past time.
As soon as dad past the blue lights started flashing and the siren went on.
Dad quickly pulled over, and the policeman said, “wow I could have never caught you up in this car”.
Dad was caught doing about 140mph had 6 points and a big fine. If he had been this crazy today, he would have had a much stronger punishment.
The funny thing is I’m always doing the speed limit.
