This week's review car is the facelift Vauxhall Astra, this is not completely new however this is 100% Vauxhall expect to see a brand-new model in around 2021 and that will be on the PSA platform.
As you likely know PSA bought out Vauxhall yet itt still remains British, the Vauxhall Astra has been around for around 40 years ago.
Now I remember zooming around in my friend's Astra 16 valve Mk 2 it had a digital dashboard which seemed to not work to well, looked extremely cool though.
It used to read think you have something like 8mph then topped out at 22mph, when you were going well over the limit, mind you this was a quick car and it handled well even 5 up saying that even the 1.2s is were known to be quick with a top speed of around 125mph .
Anyway back to modern day the thing about this car is it is powered by 1.2 3 cylinder turbo-charged engine, now your first thought is this likely isn't going to be very fast and it's not going to be the most engaging car.
Well that's not quite accurate the model we have will hit 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds and has a top speed of 137 mph yet it still offers up to 51MPG.
Our model is around £26,000 but the range does start at 19,000 we have the elite Nav with 17" wheels, premium seats with electronic lumbar support and heated front seats as well as heated rear seats.
The Astra is a four door car and it looks good, it carries of that configuration very well much like the Focus it has great styling and the body lines just flow.
Our model also has full LED front lights which are automatic and rain sensing wipers its's quite practical, engaging and if truth be known as quite nippy.
There's a range of engines including 3 variants of the 1.2 a 1.4 with a CVT all with different bhp, there is even a model called the SRi, very old school.
