The perfect day to wear my t shirt, love it and yesterday we got chance to spend sometime cleaning up our W124 Mercedes, infact we spent 7 hours in total detailing our German classic.
!
We started with a quick jetwash and dry, the car had already been decontaminated - We then moved onto clay barring the car, if you've clay barred a car this will mean something to you, if not well you can get various clays form detailing companies we opted for a Meguiars one.
You receive quik detailer and clay, clay barring is the process used to remove contaminants from the paintwork, you damp the paint with quik detailer and rub the clay in straight motions side to side across the paint, the result is the clay becomes discoloured with the contaminants removed.
This took over 2 hours panel by panel, some panels required 10 or so sweeps, the result of the process is a clean paint with nothing bar laquer over the top.
We then washed, rinsed and dried the paint work ready for the polish.
We then using a micro fibre apllied Auto Finesse Tripple polish by rubbing polish onto the paint and waiting for it to haze, then buffing it.
It was then time for the wax, we opted for the Auto Finesse Temptaion Carnauba wax, a specialist wax for relatively new to detailing enthusiasts, it comes in a tin with a foam applicator.
We applied the wax panel by panel waiting for it to cure, lightly buffed it and then removed the excess with a micro fibre.
The result is phenomenal, and our Mercedes 230CE is protected for at least 3 months. We can also top up the wax with a quik detailer for even more shine.
Watch out for a VLOG of the detailing, thank you
