As you guys no doubt know we are currently converting our Mk2 Golf GTI KR 16v to an ABF 2L 16v, after the oil pump failed seizing the engine in a matter of 10's of seconds.
The state of play currently is Ellis, Annabelle and myself have almost converted and or transferred all the parts from one engine to the other, however which a few bits we've hit a snag.
We have decided to uprate the aternator to the newer ABF type one, this has a larger belt and likely more powerful due to powering a 2 Litre rather than a 1.8, this means we need to change a few bits, we were originally going to fit the KR parts including water pump, PAS pump, alternator and related pulleys.
However as we're upgrading we have had to source ABF parts, the engine came with a water pump, but no alternator or pas pump or brackets.
We have now worked out all the bits we need and have postoned pick up and the garage fitting the engine. The parts arrive next week, and we will likely be fitting them ASAP.
There will be a video showing you the KR to ABF conversion, mind you already though there are few bits, including the pre work, removal, and changing parts.
That's where we are, we aso have a Swift Sport review coming this week too.
Thanks guys.
