If you have mobility challenges and love cars, don't let it put you off a visit to the Goodwood Festival of Speed!
They have a comprehensive support structure in place to make sure that the Festival is the place to go each Summer, with dedicated car parks, facilities inside for your needs, and a shuttle service made up of a fleet of Land Rovers to get you as close to the action as possible.
There is even a scooter hire service on site if you need it, and this is something I've had to avail myself of in previous years. In fact, 2018 saw me attend the entire Festival by scooter, as I had just torn the cartilage in my knee in two places.
For the most part, I can manoeuvre around Goodwood using a combination of short-short distances using my crutch, lots of breaks to rest, and making use of the courtesy shuttles and golf carts. As the site is so big, I use the courtesy shuttles to get onto the site itself, as the walk from the car park is too far for me.
Once on site, they have a host of golf carts that you can use to get you to different parts without exhausting yourself. You can use the map and plot your course, and after a quick conversation at the nearest information point, a golf cart will come and pick you up, and off you go!
They really have this down at Goodwood, and it runs like a well oiled machine (see what I did there, lol!) and it's essential for me, and many others like me who would not be able to attend otherwise. The staff and volunteers are all so friendly and helpful, and many go that extra mile to help you experience as much of Goodwood as you can handle.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you all.
Annabelle 😊
