There's a lot going in the world of electric vehicles, and at the CVShow, we got chance to see some of the Silence EV bikes and scooters.
Started in Barcelona in 2012, Silence was created by Carlos Sotelo, who named the brand after the absolute silence of the desert.
Research and development of the SO1 was quickly followed by the SO2 electric scooter, designed for business fleets and delivery drivers. If you have visited Spain recently, you may have noticed the SO2 in use for the city council in Barcelona, as well as for the Spanish postal service.
By 2017, Silence were producing 10,000 scooters and 12,000 batteries a year, and were still the only EV manufacturer in Spain who made their own battery packs.
It was now time to expand outside of Spain, as by 2019 the SO1 was ready for launch - it was time to launch Silence UK.
We encountered them first hand at this years Commercial Vehicle Show, as they have a flagship store in Solihull.
With the new ULEZ and Clean Air Zones, and the fact that from 2030, petrol and diesel cars won't be sold in the U.K., there is a massive shift towards EV's.
With this in mind, many people and businesses are already making the move towards electric vehicles. It may well be that a Silence EV is a good fit...
