As the Global Conference for Climate Change continues in Glasgow, the firm ZipCharge have unveiled their on-the-go charger for electric vehicles.
One of the stumbling blocks for many when looking at switching to an electric vehicle is charging. If you live in a block of flats, or in a crowded area where there is not even on street parking, it's not feasible to have an EV as you won't be able to charge it overnight without access to a fixed charging point.
The Go portable charger may just be the answer - it's a portable Type 2 charger on wheels, roughly the size of a compact suitcase, and it can be charged at home using any three pin plug socket, and then wheeled out to your car to charge it.
Such a device gives you the freedom to go where you want, when you want, without the worry about range anxiety, or even where to find a charging station. If you have one of these devices with you, you have on tap the a charge of between 20 and 40 miles, depending on your vehicle and capacity, with a charging time of between 30 and 60 minutes.
It's safe too. as when it's plugged into the vehicle, the port is part of a locking function so that the charger cannot be removed whilst it's charging.
There are multiple applications for these devices, and for many, it could be the solution for switching to a battery electric vehicle.
These chargers are due to be ready for delivery towards the end of 2022, and will be in the same price bracket as a home charge point.
More information when we have it.
