We would be spending a couple of days down at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City. Hard Rock casinos are the only casinos I’ve gambled at in the past before this Atlantic City trip. It was also kind of shocking just how similar yet different it was compared to the one I’m used to going to.
Even the parking garbage felt somewhat similar. Despite the fact, it was not. The Hard Rock in Atlantic City uses to be a different casino. So it was shocking they could give it the same vibe that I’m used to down in Tampa.
As always I took a photo of where the car was parked. This ended up proving to be a bit harder to find the photo than I was expecting. Since we were staying here a couple of days and doing some casino hopping I took an insane amount of photos. Thankfully we did find the car in the end!
There are some cool things about the Hard Rock here. Each slot machine was quite versatile. They let you know if you were in a smoking or non-smoking section. Most importantly however everything from my understanding on the beverages menu was free. This included alcoholic drinks!!!
I was not expecting to tip as much as I did getting drinks. It was however just so easy and quick to get a drink. I had intended to take photos of the entire process but that kind of escaped my mind after a few old fashions.
One of the first machines I sit down at I ended up doing quite well. It was an Aristocratic game called Gold Stacks or something. I don’t quite recall the slot's name. It was something I’ve never played before but the person that was taking us around loves this game.
So I thought why not sit down and put in my usual. This time however I used their free play plus my $20. I hate to say it but I have a habit of winning on other people’s favorite slot machines the first time I play. So it was not a shock to me that I not only quickly got the bonus but I got two bonuses at once.
I first got the bonus trigger fireworks. At the time I thought oh that must be just the bonus. Nope. That was first the pick bonus. I ended up getting the mini for like $20 or something. I thought that was it but again I was wrong.
I then had the free games bonus. More or less you just want lots of wild wheels and these ladies. If you can get a full screen of them they pay very well. While that did not end up happening. I still got a decent bonus.
After that, I played around with ordering drinks for free from the slot machine. You click on the beverages menu. You then got selected alcoholic or non-alcoholic along with some other options. To start myself off I went with an old fashioned. You could also favorite a drink for a quicker order next time!
Once you ordered a drink you then got a timeline at the bottom of the slot machine. You could see when your order was received when it was made, when it got picked up, and when they dropped it off. Along with who your server was that was dropping off the drink.
I’d then tip $1. Take my drink and order another one shortly after. These ladies most of the time were quite quick. While I was not getting a drink every 2 minutes. Most of the time I was not waiting around forever either.
You can even switch machines if you liked. The ladies walked around with a cell phones checking to see what machine the drinks were going to. I did only switch my machine once when a drink order was taking forever and she found me without issue.
My only issue with ordering drinks is I wanted a Sprite or 7-up. They did not carry any of these. They did have some drinks listed as lemon-lime. It was horrible. So I thought I’d just be stuck ordering booze or water.
That was till I decided to try out a few different drinks. I order something that sounded a bit odd called Starry. When it got dropped off the lady said Sprite. I order it again and the next person called it a 7-up. Then another person was like “Here is your Sierra Mist” It turns out Sierra Mist was discontinued and PepsiCo came out with a lemon-lime soda called Starry.
Not having to pay an insane price at a vending machine for a Sprite-like drink was well worth tipping to get a Starry dropped off anytime I was down on the floor. While sure I ordered all kinds of drinks from their classic cocktails menu to try different things. I was not looking to get plastered either and I get quite thirsty down on casino floors.
I was then off to play some Huff N Puff. Once in a while, I would have to spin a few times before they let me order my next drink. They had some kind of system setup to ensure you were at least playing the slots to get drinks.
At least one of the Huff N Puff bonuses I got had two mansions in it. While I did not get any coins. One of them was $15 and the other $7.50 for a total win of $48. This almost put me at double and with the way things had been going, I decided to cash out there and play something else.
The fun thing with the way I play and being a low roller. I get to play for a long time and a whole lot of different slots. While some people love to sit and just play one thing. I love to just walk all over the casino floor and try new things.
Next up we stopped off at the Fu Dai bag games. I did not win anything but one of the people I was with got a few bags to spin.
It was then time for a bit of a break and check-in. The Hard Rock is quite close to the beach. This was the ocean view we got! Could you just imagine if you lived in one of those homes down-blow and had an ocean view like that every day.
At this point, I was starving! I had not eaten a whole lot during this trip. So we went to the second floor to a burger joint they have at the casino. This was tasty and I ate it all as a dinner.
After that, it was back to more slots. While they did not have the Wolf Run I was looking for. They did have one of them and I don’t think I’ve played it often. So I spent some time and yes ordered some drinks while playing it. The drink lady brings luck if you did not know!
While exploring the floor for a bit. I noticed they had an Amazing Money Machine. I ended up landing the bonus a couple of times on this one. I don’t think I’ve ever had a huge win on this slot and this was not going to be one of those times either.
I however love this slot since it can be quite active if you are lucky. You can get the bonus in a couple of different ways. You can get the pick bonus while in the bonus or while in the normal part of the slot game as well.
You can also get expanding reels which I did get for one of my bonuses. While it was only a $19 win. The extra space I got won me a little more to make the bonus slightly better than it would have been.
One game I use to love playing down at Hard Rock Tampa was Big 5 Safari it however seems to be gone nowadays. It was however always a 2-cent machine so it was a bit pricier than I tend to spin on slots. Down in Atlantic City, they had one and you could play it on 1 cent!
I ended up landing the full screen of the bull. Once you do that you have a chance of also getting the progressive. I lucked out and got the progressive for $28.72 and a couple of bucks for the full screen as well.
I ended up playing with this machine quite a few times during my stay at the Hard Rock. Most times I walked away up on it as well.
One slot we had not seen elsewhere yet but is a family favorite is More More Hearts. It was nice this casino had it in 1 cent demon. This was another game I’m used to having to play it on 2 cents when down in Tampa.
In this one, you are trying to land more hearts to unlock further screens. You start with just one and then I quickly got another one and another one. I had some decent luck on this and by the 11th spin out of 15 I already had eight screens unlocked.
This also meant the last two columns on each screen had two wild diamonds. This is when winning starts to pick up.
It then should not be any shock I sat down at the Rakin Bacon for a while. This thing kept teasing me along. I’d get low on my balance and then I’d land a decent line hit. I’d then play down to almost no money left and another great line hit.
After a lot of back and forth but not landing any bonuses. I was like I had my fun I’ll just take a $6 loss on this one. I might have played it for half an hour or more. After that, it was time for a nice hot shower and some rest.
Final Thoughts
While I did go out and play a lot of other stuff. It is gambling there are going to be a lot of machines nothing happens. Also since the Hard Rock is right on the Atlantic City Boardwalk we did not spend all our time in the casino either. More on that and further gambling in future posts.
