There are several old castles and Ruins near Linz because the spot around the danube was always very embattled and several settlements around Linz, (Enns, Mauthausen) were important in the roman history and afterwards. This is why there are a lot of ruins still existing here and I already visited a lot of them and took some pictures. The Ruin Spilberg is only 20 minutes from Linz, it was a roman castle south of the danube but due to the adjustment of the danube stream it is now situated north of the danube.
I visited this place back in 2015 but also in the following years from time to time since it is a nice walk from my parents home to this place and therefore I often walk on this route. It is a nice floodplain of the danube and therfore also good for birdphotography.
