Nothing attracts gold finches to your backyard as much as the sunflowers. I planted a row of sunflowers in my little garden area from seeds, watched them grow and flowers.
Soon the gold finches come, squirrels come for the sunflower seeds, and they climbed up for more, ending up breaking a few stalks.
Gold finches are very smart as they won't wait for the seeds to be mature. They rather eat the young seeds, and there were quite a numbers of them come and go! If you are lucky, a few seeds will drop on the ground, and the sunflowers will grow on their own the next year.
