I am now sitting at Cathay Pacific lounge in Hong Kong Airport, waiting for my flight to BKK, and this is the question in my mind for the last few months.
I've been a Marco Polo Club member for about 3.5 years and I have flew long miles, I mean really long miles, with CX ever since then. To whose who know about the tiering of Marco Polo club, I gone through the Green, Silver, Gold and then Diamond tier within 2.5 years. No, I only take Econ. Or Premium Econ. classes due to company policy. Of course, I did got a few upgrade to Business class, I believe due to over selling of those flights. This is just to let you have a rough idea about the mileage I covered with CX so far.
However, since Marco Polo Club changed the way member getting club points to maintain their club tiers, I realized that I will never going to make it back to Diamond. People around me keep telling me I can get much better services, and status in loyalty program if I change to other flights, like in Star Alliances.
If you are also a frequent flyer with CX, I bet you should have similar feeling like me: CX is expensive with services keep getting worse and the planes are old and not comfortable. So I keep asking myself if I should do what my friends suggested, move to other airlines like Singapore Airline and ANA.
What will you do?
