A few days ago I came across this story (while looking at news on my phone) & then today because it was on my Facebook timeline shared by Alley Cat Allies. It's about a 90 year old woman in Florida, who is continuing a project her mom started years ago & that is to knit blankets for shelter kitties. She's on a fixed income so she gets her yarn at thrift shops & yard sales. People have been donating to her as well. She creates them to make the cages more comfortable. It's also something that the new family can take with them. Helping the cat adapt to their new home. One thing my grandma was talented at was knitting. I did create a scarf once. I didn't really inherit that particular skill & even more so, lack the patience & determination. After reading about this & since I do volunteer with the kitties at the local shelter, it might be something to take up. At least, I could give it a shot. I also have a friend who is crafty. I could pay her or, at least, for her materials & have her make some. That's probably the more likely scenario. If she's willing to, of course.
