Who are these crazy people that think it is okay to feed omniverous and carniverous pets a vegan diet? Seriously, whatever madness is this, it seems to be catching.

Uhm... yeah. But bad enough as it is to force such a dietary restriction on dogs, it is beyond mean to do so for cats. Cats are obligate carnivores. It is an absolute biological necessity for them to consume meat.
I don't mean to sit on the fence here, but it is not only mean to force your cat on to a vegan diet, it is also dumb and tantamount to abuse.
The problems that a cat will experience on a meatless diet include nutritional deficiency, taurine deficiency potentially leading to a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy and blindness, lack of arachidonic acid and vitamins A & B.
