The Sleeping Lioness
HER HUSBAND ISN'T REALLY THE KING
No. I'm not completely insane and about to be eaten by the "queen of the jungle". There's a strong clear glass between me and the sleeping beast in the above photo.
It appears that cats of all sizes have many things in common, one of which is just lying there doing nothing. In the Savanna where lions actually live (they don't live in the jungle), lionesses are extremely active. They do all the hunting and provide most of the food for the pride, including the big alpha male. The said alpha only usually gets involved to fight, feast or fornicate. The great three fs.
So, the male lion who does mostly nothing all day, and doesn't even live in the jungle, still somehow gets pronounced "King of the jungle".
Fun fact: There are animals in the actual jungle, that would lay waste to the mighty lion in seconds. One of which is the extremely lethal Black Mamba. It's a snake with an extremely potent venom. The Black Mamba is also capable of moving too fast for the lion to respond. Pray never to encounter one.
Anyhow, this Caturday is dedicated to the lioness. She isn't really a queen, but she deserves to be.
Peace & Love,
Adé
