Earlier this week, while at work I got a frantic bunch of texts and a series of phone calls. My personal phone is always on silent while at work but when I happened to glance at it, it seemed as if someone or something had died with all the messages and missed calls.
!!!!Call Me!!!!
What on earth happened I thought to myself, it was a busy week. I have things to do and don't have time for this, what couldn't possibly wait until I get home? I checked looked at the photos and there it was...
That's right, our sweet innocent house cat who has spent 99.9% of her life 100 feet off the ground got her first victim and proudly brought it inside to show it off. Bugs don't count and our place is rodent-free, she does, however, sit on the balcony and watch the birds. Cat's like to kill things and Crypticat is no exception, she waits in ambush and finally, after two summers of waiting, she got her prey. Gotta admire that patience.
Here is the killer moments after the crime. What can you expect? Cats love to wait in ambush and pounce. I think it was one of her happiest days ever. I disposed of the evidence upon my return and everything was back to normal.
I feel a little bad because there was some report this week about billions of birds dying in North America over the past few decades. Cats aren't the main culprit, it's pollution and a declining number of insects likely due to pesticides and other chemicals. People blame buildings with lights on at night, glass windows, cats, etc. it's human activity.
How can you stay angry at her? It's Caturday after all and I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend.
