Last week when I wrote this I had seen the little male visitor in the garden just as I was leaving for work and he let me scratch his head, followed me down the stairs and went off to drink water as I was unlocking the gate but wasn't there when I got home later, nor has he been seen since. I think that he has finally gone home and stayed there, I can only hope so.
The tuxedo visitor is still coming around but there was an unexpected obstacle to starting to feed him - a dog turned up:
Seriously, is this the last homely house or something?
We advertised her on the community Facebook pages but no response. She had ample opportunity to leave but chose to hang around and stuck to me like glue because I fed her. She wasn't starving, just rather thin because she has had puppies a little while ago and the vet said that she is currently on heat again. She's a well trained, polite dog and we had no idea where to start looking for her owner. All the shelters are currently full but luckily I managed to find a good home for her with someone in the feral cat carer community.
I am a cat lady after all and I wasn't about to upset my cats by bringing a dog into their space but the person who has her now cares for cats too but actually likes dogs more. I am glad I managed to resolve that particular issue quickly. Now I just have to get my tuxedo visitor tamer and neutered.
