Somehow Two of the best parks ended up in Ohio with Cedar Point and Kings Island. This was my first time back to Cedar Point since about 2013.
The first disappoint was that Top Thrill Dragster was down again. It goes 120 mph and is one of the most wicked rides in the world. 2 out of the 3 times I have been there it has been down. It is a hard ride for them to maintain.
There were a couple of rides that were new to me. The best of which was the most aggressive wood to steel roller coaster conversion in the world called the Steel Revenge!
It has become one of my favorite roller coasters in the world after riding it 3 times yesterday! It was well designed and I'm surprised they tried to build such an aggressive roller coaster on an existing wood frame. It had an initial drop of over 200 ft and made very tight cork screws and goes about 74 mph which felt very fast because of the forces you felt from the turns and the tight cork screws.
Still one of my favorites though is the Millennium Force which goes 93 mph. The initial drop is extremely aggressive and that roller coaster has pushed the limits for almost 20 years!
One last crazy thing about the Steel Revenge was that I could see the wood structure flexing about 6 to 8 inches when the coaster rolled over part of it which was kind of crazy.
